Student OT Associations
One of the best ways to get the most out of your time in OT school is to join up with your fellow OT students. Just about every school has a student occupational therapy association, often called SOTAs, to help keep you connected with information and events you need to know. To submit your SOTA's contact information to be posted on this site, email online editor Jessica LaGrossa .

Assembly of Student Delegates
ASD is the American Occupational Therapy Association's student group, comprised of student members of AOTA. The assembly is the means by which students have a voice at the national level. The assembly is a forum for student input and concerns and serves as a mechanism to foster leadership skills. The ASD also has it's own listserv through AOTA to foster student communication and networking.
The students in each school's student OT association elects one of their members to be the ASD delegate from their school. That delegate represents his or her school annually at the ASD pre-conference delegate meetings held just prior to AOTA's annual conference. Additionally, the delegates elect from amongst themselves a steering committee, which is a standing committee of AOTA's Executive Board. The ASD steering committee develops and implements a student-focused agenda, which can include revising student-oriented policies and procedures within AOTA, assisting in AOTA's awareness programs, and working to broaden scholarship opportunities for OT students.
The AOTA website has more information about the Assembly of Student Delegates and about joining AOTA as a student member . (Note: the membership application is a .pdf document, which requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader )
