New Day Wellness Partners with YMCA

GAINESVILLE, FL -- New Day Wellness announced March 29 the opening of a branch office inside the North West YMCA complex in Gainesville, FL. New Day Wellness will offer group exercise covered by insurance at the Gainesville YMCA.

The group exercise will include Tai Chi and aquatic programs for balance and for pain and arthritis. New Day Wellness therapists will also offer individualized physical therapy and occupational therapy services at the YMCA and will have deep tissue laser available at this location.

"This partnership allows us to select from a wide range of exercise and wellness opportunities to guide our patients into effective long-term solutions for their conditions," stated Bruce Sack, PT, owner of New Day Wellness. "The YMCA makes available to us large spaces for those seeking to engage in therapy-directed group exercise programs such as Tai Chi and aquatic programs."

Sack also said the new branch of New Day Wellness is particularly important to patients with Medicare because the cost can be lowered significantly in the group setting. Group therapy helps beneficiaries stay under the annual Medicare cap on therapy. This is especially important for those dealing with balance disorders, obesity, or severe chronic pain, he said.

"As we eliminate the barriers that keep our patients from engaging in self-directed exercise and wellness programs such as pain and fear of falling, we anticipate that many will want to continue with a YMCA membership at a discounted rate upon graduation from our programs," Sack said. "The YMCA is perfectly suited for this transition because of its easy access and close handicapped parking. They are already committed to providing evidence-based exercise groups such as Silver Sneakers, covered by some insurers, and so would be a natural place to continue as each individual continues to recover."

"As the YMCA continues to enhance the programs and services that we offer to our members, we are pleased to partner with New Day Wellness as another perfect example of how we can come together to serve our community and help people live a better and healthier life," said John Bonacci, CEO of the North Central Florida YMCA.

Tai Chi for balance and Tai Chi for pain and arthritis groups are forming now and have immediate openings. Appointments can also be made with New Day therapists.
