View Comments (27)Print ArticleEmail Article

The iPhone, iTouch and iPad, and many of the applications designed for them, are ideal for use by therapists seeking to improve patients' fine motor skills, visual motor skills, visual attention skills, etc.

There are a multitude of free and inexpensive applications available. Each month Angelia Wood, OTR/L, a therapist with Davie County Schools in Mocksville, NC, will review an app and its use in OT.

  • Draw a Stickman

This classic drawing style entertains and addresses fine motor skills.

  • Letter Reflex

This app helps children learn the direction of the most commonly reversed letters.

  • Sentence Builder

This app for expressive language can also have handwriting applications.

  • PDF-Notes

This app allows you to open .pdf worksheets on the iPad to write and draw on them.

  • Vision Training 1

This app increases the speed and efficiency of saccades or quick visual movements of the eyes.

Awesome reviews, thank you so much - have already downloaded and used 3 of the ones that I did not have previously. VERY helpful. Love the Dyslexia Quest.

The reviews I do are for the iPad and iPod which are apple products and some of the apps do have android copies or ones that may be close. I will try to remember and maybe I can start researching and include that in the review each month.

Hi,
I was wondering if you had a list of useful Android apps that you could recommend.
Thanks,
Sandra
